Even after an extremely challenging year marred by COVID-19 and unprecedented economic strain, Florida State University President John Thrasher still insists this is the best job he s ever held.
Which, of course, is saying a great deal when you consider he has been an officer in the U.S. Army, a successful attorney and lobbyist, a Florida state senator and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
But as rewarding as these past seven years have been with highlights that include helping FSU earn recognition as one of the nation s top 20 public universities and presiding over a successful $1 billion fundraising campaign Thrasher appears to have little reservation about his decision to retire before the start of the 2021-22 academic year.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Game times for the first three weeks of Florida State’s 2021 football season were announced Thursday and include three national broadcasts and two primetime contests.
Florida State opens the 2021 campaign by hosting Notre Dame on Sunday, Sept. 5. The Seminoles stay home for week two, hosting Jacksonville State on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. on ACC Network.
FSU travels to Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 18, to open ACC play. That game is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff on either ABC or ESPN. Florida State leads the all-time series 30-7-1, including a 9-4 mark in Winston-Salem.

While most of the funding for improvements to Doak will come from non-local government sources, it is essential that we complete the new vision with help from Blueprint. Today, FSU Athletics and Seminole Boosters received approval from the Board of Trustees (BOT) to begin conversations with our fan base regarding new conceptual experiences at Doak Campbell Stadium. The permission given by the BOT was the first of many steps to address the preferences expressed by our ticket-holders and infrastructure needs and repairs within the stadium.
The following information is based on the initial approval. More details and information will follow throughout this spring and summer.
In direct response to the preferences revealed over several years of surveys of our football season tickets holders, Florida State began planning for experiential enhancements in 2019.
