The Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO approved the inclusion of the Belarusian nomination file "Straw weaving of Belarus: Art, craft and skills” into the Representative List of intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Beekeeping culture of Belarus, Poland on UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage
MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Tree beekeeping culture of Belarus and Poland has been inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“On 17 December, the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage decided to inscribe Tree Beekeeping Culture, a joint nomination on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at its 15th session,” the press service said.
Beekeeping is an ancient forestry trade, the initial form of cultural beekeeping. It is based on breeding and keeping forest bees in artificial hives.
