His lawyer Vemal Arasan said that Momoh was released at 9pm.
“He was extremely happy to be released but was exhausted. He was so excited to see his daughter, ” he told The Star.
The Shah Alam High Court had on Friday found the detention of Momoh to be unconstitutional and ordered him to be released as soon as practical.
Vemal thanked the Attorney General’s Chambers, especially the deputy public prosecutors, who ensured Momoh’s smooth and fast release.
“They made sure that everything was done and he was released on the same day, ” he said.
High Court judge Ab. Karim Ab. Rahman had ruled that the detention was in violation of Article 5(4) of the Federal Constitution, which requires a non-citizen to be presented before a magistrate within 14 days from the date of arrest
