STAFF and parents are set to march this morning in protest against a primary school being turned into an academy. Demonstrators will meet at the school gates at Moulsecoomb Primary School and march through Brighton to the Level from 10am. It was announced last month that the Pioneer Academy would take over the school. The Hands Off Moulsecoomb Primary campaign group say 96 per cent of parents are against an academy takeover. ⚠️❗ We re aware of a possible protest due to take place along Lewes Road in Brighton today, starting from Moulsecoomb Primary School at 09:30, heading south. Lee Mason-Ellis, chief executive of The Pioneer Academy, visited Moulsecoomb Primary School in The Highway, Brighton, yesterday. His planned visit to the school earlier this week was abandoned after a three-hour stand-off with parents and campaigners who had locked the school gates. He came back and visited the school yesterday, but when he returned to his parked Mercedes-Benz in Selsfield Drive, opposite the school, he found it had been blocked in and covered with anti-academy posters. The Pioneer Academy s CEO was blocked-in by two cars after visiting Moulsecoomb Primary School yesterday Former council leader Daniel Yates, who spotted the CEO inside his luxury car, told him to leave.

TOBY PULLEN Aged 29, of Aldwick Road, Worthing, admitted assaulting a woman in Bognor, drunk and disorderly behaviour at a pub and possessing cocaine during an incident in August. To do 40 hours of unpaid work. To pay £50 compensation, a £95 surcharge and £85 costs. ASHLEY TAYLOR Aged 26, of Anson Road, Goring, admitted assaulting a woman in Worthing. To do 80 hours unpaid work and 15 Building Better Relationships sessions, with a £90 surcharge and £85 costs.
