Members of Sandwell Council s planning committee gave the green light to a proposal to demolish the old physiotherapy unit at the hospital on Lyndon in West Bromwich.
It has created a free online package of support, called Lessons from the Battlefield, as a resource for frontline healthcare workers and has now also updated it to help their loved ones too.
The charity highlighted that concern was mounting around the long-term impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the mental health and wellbeing of frontline healthcare workers.
It added that it was also urging more support for their loved ones who it warned could be the “forgotten victims of the pandemic”.
It noted that it had, therefore, updated Lessons from the Battlefield to include self-care guides for loved ones, not just veterans and healthcare heroes themselves.
John Coles: known for his ‘passion for the provision of good-quality housing’
Tributes have been pouring in for the residential real estate veteran, who died on Saturday 27 February of pneumonia while undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Credited as one of the earliest figures to identify the growth of PRS and more recently build-to-rent (BTR), Coles forged a reputation over many decades as a leading property investor and advocate for high-quality, affordable housing.
Coles started his career as a cattle auctioneer before rising up the ranks of chartered surveying. In the early 1990s, he teamed up with chartered accountant Chris Butterfield to buy up residential property that was being offloaded by companies looking to exit the government’s Business Expansion Scheme.
