Over 26 years of riding centuries, 200-mile gravel grinders, mountain bike stage races, and all-day outings with friends, I’ve managed to stay comfortable through it all. You can maintain your VO 2 max with just two sessions a week, so long as your overall volume and intensity remains the same. Additionally, you can keep your muscles strong with just one session of strength training per week and one set per exercise, as long as you’re lifting at least as much weight as you typically do. We’ve all been there, maybe more than we like lately: feeling under the weather, out of routine, maybe just out of sorts, and wondering what’s the least we can do to maintain our hard-earned endurance and strength gains.
