Blue Hill selectmen seek to grow their numbers - The Ellsworth American

Blue Hill selectmen seek to grow their numbers BLUE HILL Since the 1700s, the town of Blue Hill has been governed by a three-member Board of Selectmen, according to Selectman Jim Dow. But times have changed and the board, which is currently at two members due to former Selectman Vaughn Leach’s resignation, would like to add more members.  The selectmen held a public hearing Monday to discuss the annual Town Meeting warrant, which will be held by referendum due to the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying social distancing requirements that Governor Janet Mills still has in place. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Blue Hill Consolidated School gymnasium.

Busy Blue Hill selectman resigns - The Ellsworth American

Busy Blue Hill selectman resigns BLUE HILL Selectman Vaughn Leach, citing overwhelming demands from his roll-off container business due to the pandemic, has resigned from his seat on the board. But also, he and his wife, Melanie, have moved to a rental house in the town of Surry while they build a new house on land they own in Blue Hill. As a selectman, you need to be a resident of the town you’re serving, not just a property owner, Leach explained. The native son’s current term was due to expire in April. He has been a selectman since 2013.
