Now, new research has been published linking Long Covid to low serotonin levels in the blood. But what exactly is Long Covid? According to the NHS, Long Covid is when some of the symptoms of Covid 19, such as fatigue, loss of smell and shortness of breath persist in patients even after 12 weeks, which is usually when most make a full recovery. A small minority of people infected end up with this problem, and scientists are exploring the possibilities to find out, firstly, why this phenomenon occurs, but also why it only affects some people and not others.
