Brazil to Buy up to 159,000 Beretta APX Pistols The largest country in Latin America has made a deal with one of the oldest names in the firearms world to equip their police with a modern new handgun. Media outlets in Italy and elsewhere reported earlier this month that the
Forca Nacional de Seguranca Publica – the Brazilian national police – and other law enforcement agencies from several Brazilian states have signed an agreement to adopt the
Beretta APX series pistol. The 57 million euro ($70 million) contract allows for as many as 159,000 9mm pistols to be delivered over an 18-month period. The Brazilian military and police forces for years have used domestically produced copies of the Beretta Model 92, and the company s ties to the country go back to the late 1940s.
