By Christy Simmons Dec 15, 2020 The Kiwanis Club of Chillicothe delivered gifts to fifteen children in the Huntington School District as part of their Ben Segal Christmas Project. Starting in 1932, each year a dozen or more underprivileged boys and girls from elementary grades of the city and county schools have been entertained by a luncheon and gifts of candy, fruit, toys and clothing presented by Santa Claus. Mr. Segal always presented each child a silver dollar as his gift. Kiwanian Ben Segal (Chillicothe Businessman) has over the years directed and mostly financed this annual event. Mr. Segal passed away in August 1978 and the annual Christmas party has been recognized as the Ben Segal Children’s Christmas Party sometime after his death to honor his commitment to the children of need.
