In doing so, the Supreme Court also observed "irretrievable breakdown of marriage" cannot be viewed as a straightjacket formula to always grant divorce.
The Bench relied on a 2016 Supreme Court judgment which said that it is not a common practice for a Hindu son in India to get separated from his parents upon getting married, at the instance of the wife.
