Human Services Department, County Officials Urge Families, Landlords in Northwest Pennsylvania to Apply for Rental and Utility Assistance

Harrisburg, PA - Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Teresa Miller today joined northwest Pennsylvania officials to encourage individuals and families who pay rent and are at risk of eviction or loss of utility service to apply for help through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), which launched in March. A total of $847 million has been distributed among Pennsylvania’s 67 counties to help thousands of families maintain their housing and utility services. Owners of rental properties can also apply for assistance on behalf of tenants.

Harrisburg, PA - Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Teresa Miller today joined leadership from Pennsylvania’s Community HealthChoices (CHC) managed care organizations (MCOs) to discuss their work to ease access to COVID-19 vaccines, promote equity in vaccine distribution, and address vaccine hesitancy among individuals they serve.
“As Pennsylvania continues to make progress getting vaccinating individuals across the commonwealth, we know that we must continue to work to ensure that residents who are most vulnerable to the virus are not left behind in this process,” said Secretary Miller. “Our partnership with the CHC MCOs is creating direct access to vaccines for individuals and communities who have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.
