The House Committee on Transportation has endorsed for plenary approval the bill proposing to make drag racing conducted in public roads a criminal offense.
The House panel on Thursday approved the technical working group report endorsing immediate referral to the House plenary of House Bill 3391.Authored by Quezon City Rep. Precious Hipolito-Castelo, HB 3391 proposes to impose penalties on drivers of vehicles caught engaged in racing using public roads.
Castelo said HB 3391 aims to keep public roads safe for both motorists and commuters.
The neophyte lawmaker urged the House leadership to immediately schedule the measure for plenary debate, saying that she has full confidence that transportation panel chairman and Samar Rep. Edgar Mary Sarmiento will successfully defend the passage of the measure.
