Selling COVID-19 vaccines, vaccination slots prohibited

QUEZON CITY, May 25 (PIA) - The selling of COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination slots is prohibited, said Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque during the press briefing held yesterday, May 24.
Secretary Roque explained that COVID-19 vaccines are not for sale as these are only granted authorization for emergency use and not for commercial use. Likewise, the fourth clinical trials are not yet done. So kapag po kayo ay nahuli na nagbibenta ng bakuna na wala pang commercial use ay pupuwede po kayong makulong sang-ayon sa batas na nagbuo ng Food and Drug Administration sa Pilipinas. ( If you are caught selling vaccines that have yet to secure approval for commercial use, you may be jailed in accordance with the law that created the Food and Drug Administration) Secretary Roque said.

Q: What do you make of this statement by Secretary Harry Roque who basically served notice to the opposition that you guys better watch out if this thing regarding vaccination, regarding herd immunity is achieved and if the Philippines gets or experiences a better Christmas, better be ready for 2022 campaign and elections?
SRH: My goodness! That should not be the subject of the Presidential spokesperson s warning whether to the opposition or any other group within the country. Yung mas magaling, totoong mas magaling na pandemic response is something that they should have started delivering to the Filipino people since last year since the start of the pandemic in March.

Cayetano, also a former Foreign Affairs secretary, told reporters in Taguig City on Thursday that both parties should not let their emotions control them, because the WPS concern is not a partisan issue. Tuwing may sinasabi ang both sides, nakikinig ‘yan, ang China, Vietnam, at Malaysia at inaayos yung strategy laban sa atin,” Cayetano said. In a statement, Del Rosario said such a debate, which Roque is “endeavoring to promote”, is not the best way to spend the time of Filipinos since “it will only manifest to the world that we are not united and we do not know what we are doing”.
The former DFA secretary, who was one of the architects of the Arbitration case filed by the Philippines against China before the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, even questioned Roque’s credibility as a spokesperson for President Duterte.
“We are made to understand, however, that Secretary Roque’s own department is undergoing serious credibility challenges. The question arises – Is the problem with the marketer, or is it the product, or both?” he said.
