Cayetano: Admin, opposition must discuss strategy on WPS

Cayetano, also a former Foreign Affairs secretary, told reporters in Taguig City on Thursday that both parties should not let their emotions control them, because the WPS concern is not a partisan issue. Cayetano promoted his proposal which has been compared to House Bill 8628 or the proposed Bayanihan to Arise as One Act (Bayanihan 3) that was filed by staunch political foe and successor, incumbent Speaker Lord Allan Velasco. Velasco and Marikina City Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo are pushing for the swift passage of the Bayanihan 3 that proposes a P420 billion economic stimulus fund that is aimed at reviving the country’s economy.

Cayetano, allies seek additional cash aid for COVID-hit families, other beneficiaries

Published February 4, 2021 9:26am By ERWIN COLCOL, GMA News Former Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and his allies have filed a measure seeking to grant additional cash assistance to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In House Bill 8697, Cayetano and six other lawmakers proposed to create the Bangon Pamilyang Pilipino (BPP) Assistance Program, which will provide beneficiaries with P1,500 cash assistance per family member or P10,000 per household, whichever is higher. “This bill ensures that each and every Filipino is given additional assistance, in recognition that we all have been affected by the pandemic, economic setbacks, and all the hardships brought about in the year 2020,” the authors said in the bill s explanatory note.
