Wisconsin ramping down COVID-19 vaccination clinics

MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) The community-based COVID-19 vaccination clinics, including one in La Crosse County, are winding down.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Friday that it will be gradually reducing the hours of operating at six DHS COVID-19 vaccination clinics in La Crosse, Barron, Douglas, Marathon, Racine and Rock counties.
“Standing up these community clinics across Wisconsin was an all-hands on deck effort and through the dedication from our vaccine team, local public health, and other partners, nearly 83,000 shots were put in arms at the sites,” said DHS Deputy Secretary Julie Willems Van Dijk. “While these clinics will start ramping down, I want to assure everyone that there are still many ways to get vaccinated. People without an ID or insurance should not be turned away
With everyone ages 16 and older now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) encourages everyone to schedule an appointment. Anyone that lives, works, or studies in Wisconsin can get vaccinated for free even if you cannot provide proof of residency, do not have a valid state identification card, or do not have insurance.
“This pandemic has proven that our health is connected with the health of everyone in our community. COVID-19 is a contagious virus that spreads from person to person but the vaccine helps stop the spread. The more people that are vaccinated, the more protected Wisconsin is from the virus. Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services answered questions and provided information about COVID-19 including vaccinations and variant strains.
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) on Thursday, April 8 released a new data table on its variant webpage that shows SARS-CoV-2 variant proportions by Health Care Emergency Readiness Coalition (HERC) region.
The variants page now also includes information on two additional variant strains of SARS-CoV-2: variants B.1.427 and B.1.429.
The DHS first identified these variants in Wisconsin in December 2020, and is now tracking them and displaying them publicly following the CDC s recent classification update on March 17, 2021.
