MalacaƱang has approved a recommendation to sell confiscated smuggled sugar at P70 per kilo in Kadiwa stores, an official of the Sugar Regulatory Administration said yesterday.
Agents of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service at the Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) discovered around P120 million worth of poultry and seafood products that are believed to have been smuggled into the country in a series of raids in Navotas City warehouses.
In line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s order to boost the campaign against agricultural smuggling, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and its partner agencies apprehended 11 container vans of smuggled refined sugar worth P27.3 million.

"The shipments consigned to Kanluran Consumer Goods Trading that originated from China were seized after a series of operations led by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for DA Inspectorate and Enforcement (DA-IE) at the Manila International Container Port (MICP)," the DA said in a statement.
