ON Nov. 28, 2023, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Presidential Proclamation 409 designating the last working day of every November as National Bike-To-Work Day. Although there are still many factors particularly unsafe road conditions that deter Filipinos from cycling, the reality is that many millions are already using bicycles regularly. Because they are the most vulnerable road users, they deserve to have safe infrastructure and traffic rules that will protect them from harm, particularly collisions with motor vehicles.
