from the harvard kennedy school of government throughout american history when we talk about access to the ballot, we end up talking about discrimination. how do you view the commission and what secretary of state grimes was saying? sure. so i think the commission was pretty open about the fact they want less people to vote. and i think they ve been a little less clear. but it is apparent they want certain people, certain people to have less power at the ballot box. so they ve directly been targeting college students, minorities, people of color, people who look like they shouldn t belong in the voting booth. and i think this opens up all kinds of problems, all cans of worms. i think it is disingenuous to call these voter i.d. laws. instead we should cause them voter intimidation laws, voter suppression laws or voter depression laws in general.
