Widow Of Hockey Ref Who Died From COVID Thinks He Contracted It During Carver Co. Games

The wife of a youth hockey referee, who died from COVID-19, believes he contracted the virus while officiating games in Carver County.
Sixty-two-year-old Dan Culhane passed away in late February. His wife, Nancy Mitchell, also got the virus and was later told by health officials that she had the B.1.1.7 variant, which was first identified in the United Kingdom and is considered highly contagious.
“He loved the game itself. He loved the kids, especially the younger ones that were just kind of learning,” Mitchell said.

A small business owner says he was banned from selling a Free Kyle shirt on the e-commerce platform Shopify referring to Kyle Rittenhouse, an Illinois teen accused of killing two people during unrest in Kenosha, Wis.
The company told Seth Weathers, founder and owner of BringAmmo.com, that the product violated its Acceptable Use Policy, Weathers said. Weathers is now accusing Shopify of anti-conservative bias, telling FOX Business that the decision had little explanation and came out of the blue, since the item had been listed since summer 2020.

District officials in San Diego evidently believe that the practice of grading students based on average scores is racist.
K-12 students in large public school districts across the country spent much of the fall semester at home, a less-than-ideal result of the COVID-19 pandemic. But Zoom learning was hardly the only significant change to the education system. Some school districts are embracing trendy but dubious ideas about how to fight racism in the classroom.
The San Diego Unified School District, for instance, moved this fall to abolish its traditional grading system. Students will still receive letter grades, but they won t reflect average scores on papers, quizzes, and tests. Under the new system, pupils will not be penalized for failing to complete assignments or even show up for class, and teachers will give them extra opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of subjects.
