that is so what? if you re a prosecutor, the idea is not that you re supposed to balance out how much criticism you re going to get, the idea is you do your job regardless of the criticism. there are two different sides and the politics side and thankfully the intelligence side seems to be relatively clear which is the assessment was made on a difficult topic and using exquisite intelligence that was collected. the assessment was made and provided to policymakers in a way that was suitable for the level of classification and the concern about the collection. that was done. so the intelligence community may have 99 problems to put it the way you d like, but the way they communicated the intelligence to the policymakers ain t one. instead, this is a political problem. just because you provide intelligence to the president or other policymakers, that does not dictate what the policy choice is, that is always a political matter and in this case, that s where you have the second-guessing
