First filed nearly four years ago, the cartway petition asked the board to intervene in an access dispute involving a 63-acre property on Nelson Lake in northeastern Crow Wing County.
The petitioner began the process more than three years ago to establish a permanent route to the 63-acre property on Nelson Lake in northeastern Crow Wing. The nearest public road does not allow access to the property and the neighborly dispute means using the private road crossing others’ properties is no longer an option.
As the township officials for the Unorganized Territory previously known as Dean Lake Township, Crow Wing County Board members must eventually act on the petition, having determined Middleton and his ownership partners qualify for the cartway they seek.
County officials sought to clarify the relationship between valuation and taxes while also presenting statistics to show Crow Wing County is not alone in its steep increases even though it appears to be experiencing some of the biggest climbs in the state.
