Number of mass shootings over the last few years. why did you think it was important to go and be there? i wouldn t say it was important to be there but it s a large constituency. new hampshire has, i would say, a very strong record on supporting individuals rights around the second amendment and gun rights. there is 60,000 people there, a lot of our manufacturers were there. it was good to go and talk about a record of success. not just around the laws but around the individual freedoms that drive that. those mass shootings, i m a governor. i m 24/7. god forbid there s a mass shooting, it could happen to anyone at anytime anywhere in this country. there s no law you are going to pass that is going to stop mass shooting. there s no law you are going to pass that is going to magically stop gun violence. that s clear. do you think there are federal restrictions on guns that should be the law of the land? i think where the laws are right now is pretty good. let me ask you about so
Republican lawmaker from new york came out and said, i m for an assault weapons ban, a few days later he says he s not running for re-election. it seems to say where you can be as a republican related to gun control right now. i think the struggle for the republican party has been that the voters who are so passionate about the second amendment and gun rights, they send to be single issue voters. so they will come out and support the candidate on that specific issue, and that energy among those two are major proponents of the second amendment, that s been the struggle for republicans to be able to get on board with some gun restrictions. so that s why if there is an agreement, it s going to be important how the republicans will be able to sell it. for example, for john concrnyn, he s going to want to be able to tell follow republican lawmakers but to voters that this isn t a
