Another week brings us another Orlando City game, and that means it’s time to get an idea of this week’s opponent from someone who knows them better than we do.
Week 4 sees New York City FC visit Exploria Stadium to play the Lions for the first time following
that home playoff game last year. A date with NYCFC meant that I spoke with Christian Smith, managing editor of SBNation’s
Player Grades: NYCFC vs. Philadelphia

Grade: B
New York City FC’s new team captain didn’t have much to do on Saturday. As a matter of fact, the clean sheet victory came without Johnson needing to make so much as one save. This is a testament not only to City’s defense, but SeanJohn’s ability to organize his backline.
While we can’t justify giving him a gargantuan grade, we can definitely say he played an important role in the win.
Sebastien Ibeagha
Grade: B+
Maxime Chanot’s injury came at the eleventh hour ahead of the clash against the Philadelphia Union. Having to step in last minute for a regular starter in a new formation, Sebastien Ibeagha could’ve been doomed to fail. But he didn’t. As a matter of fact, he asserted himself quite well.

And due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, quarantine rules would’ve most certainly kept Callens from lining up against Orlando City next week in NYCFC’s first 2020 playoff matchup.

I still remember September 25, 2019 quite well. I remember stepping off of the D train at the legendary 161st St. and River Ave. stop. I remember walking up the stairs onto 161st and smelling that signature South Bronx aroma. I remember checking in with the two nice ladies at the press gate before taking the elevator up to the press box a few levels above.
But most of all, I remember that indescribable sound 25,000 strong at Yankee Stadium.
This was no ordinary game. At the time, New York City FC were in a tight battle for tops in the Eastern Conference. A win on this night their final home game of the 2019 regular season against the dangerous Atlanta United could clinch the East should the Philadelphia Union do anything less than beat the San Jose Earthquakes on the road.
