As the only car built by a major manufacturer in Hypercar s first season, GR010 will be the clear favorite for both Le Mans and every World Endurance Championship round it has not been shut out of by the category s take on success ballast. Those expectations are in place, in part, because the car will be competing against relatively weak competition in its first few rounds. The program s only direct competition for the early portion of the season is a grandfathered-in privateer LMP1 car built for Rebellion but now run by Renault s Alpine division, and the regulations were written to ensure that any car in the the LMH category would comfortably be fast enough to outpace competition

Mercedes’ Vandoorne victorious at Rome ePrix Date published: April 11 2021 Mercedes Formula E driver and Formula 1 reserve Stoffel Vandoorne secured his first win of the season in race two at the Rome ePrix. The opening race of the weekend at the Circuito Cittadino dell’EUR saw Vandoorne finish in the barriers after a collision that also involved his Mercedes team-mate Nyck de Vries, but the Belgian bounced back in style by finishing the weekend atop the podium. There was drama after the Safety Car start around a damp Rome as Nick Cassidy, starting from pole, spun his Envision Virgin Racing car while leading on the opening lap.

Toyota GR010 Hybrid Unveiled With Twin-Turbo 3 5-Liter V6 For Le Mans Hypercar Class

This is the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, the car that the automaker will compete with in the newly-formed Le Mans Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship. Powering the car is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, significantly larger than the 2.4-liter unit used by Toyota’s retired TS050 LMP1 car. Working alongside the internal combustion engine is a front-axle hybrid system that delivers 268 hp. Total power of the car is capped at 670 hp. To meet this cap on power, the GR010 Hybrid’s advanced electronics reduced engine power depending on how much hybrid boost is being deployed at any given time.
