In Seattle, working for Edouardo Jordan is the equivalent of striking restaurant gold.
Before the pandemic, a constant stream of hopeful staff flowed through the doors of Jordan s three restaurants, hoping the experience of working for a two-time James Beard Award winner would open doors to prestigious restaurants around the world. Gee & Ursula: Why did it take a murder before city took action on homeless camp?
Homeless camp at Olga Park in Seattle s Ravenna neighborhood. (KIRO Radio)
Crews cleared out a homeless camp in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood over the weekend and posted signs that Olga Park would be temporarily closed.
This came after a 31-year-old man was shot several times in the chest in the early hours of Memorial Day while exiting his tent. Ursula Reutin’s mother lives in a condo across from the park.
People who live and work in that area, including my mom, feel much safer now that the camp is gone. Hopefully the several dozen people who set up tents there now have a safer place to live, too.
Neighbors have been complaining about the camp for months. Author: Eric Wilkinson Updated: 5:39 PM PDT May 31, 2021
SEATTLE Neighbors called 911 just after 5 a.m. Monday after hearing three gunshots at a homeless camp located in Seattle s Ravenna neighborhood.
The victim, a 31-year-old man, was shot several times in the chest by another person staying at the camp.
The shooter fled on foot.
A person who calls herself Pepper said she knew the victim and said he was not one to go looking for trouble. Someone came looking for someone else, not even him, for money, apparently, Pepper said. I don t know what happened from there. All I know is it went from that to him getting shot. He s still a person, regardless. Even though he s out here doesn t mean he s a bad person. People get caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man at a homeless encampment in Seattle's Ravenna neighborhood.
