CRESTLINE After a one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Living History Days are being held at Lowe-Volk Park once again by the Crawford Park District in conjunction with Colonel Crawford’s Company.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. with the opening ceremony and will end on Sunday at 4 p.m. A schedule is listed below.
Living History Days tells the story of the capture and death of Col. William Crawford at the end of the Revolutionary War in June of 1782. Beginning Friday night at 8 p.m., learn about the Native Americans who inhabited these lands. Saturday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., watch the capture of Col. William Crawford, visit a Native American camp, listen to our Native American Storyteller Shequonur, shop or simply walk the park’s trails. Saturday night at 8 p.m., return for the Lantern Tour. CSX repairing crossings
CSX Transportation will be making repairs to several railroad crossings in Galion during the week of April 26. The crossings at Portland Way South (State Route 309), South Market Street, and Nazor Road will all receive work. Each crossing will be closed for 2-3 days.
Volunteer Day set for April 24
Volunteer Day is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 24 at the Crawford Park District’s new Sandusky Headwaters Preserve. As work on developing the new preserve continues, the Crawford Park District needs help. Hundreds of prairie and wetland plugs need planted. This is a great community service opportunity for your club, civic group, and family. This planting will help finalize the Crawford Park District’s H2Ohio grant project. Some tools will be provided, but you may bring a trowel or shovel. Call the park office at 419-683-9000 to register your family or club. Rain Date: May 1.
