Andre Jordan was 22 when he booked a touring production of âLegally Blonde.â The actor, then working multiple part-time jobs and not yet signed with an agent, knew this ensemble role would be a valuable step in his career.
There was one caveat, said the casting agent: âThe creative team would like you to lose 15 to 20 pounds before you start rehearsals.â
Jordan didnât wince at the request. During the audition, he and the others were asked to briefly remove their shirts, as a scene in the musical has them onstage without any. âI thought, âTheyâre saying that for my sake, they want me to be sexy and look my best,ââ he recalled to the Los Angeles Times. âIâll just do it.â
