The Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday warned the governors of New York and Delaware that failing to let pharmacy technicians administer the Covid-19 vaccine could hinder efforts to inoculate the public and violate federal law.
The department in letters accused state officials of refusing to clearly state that they will allow pharmacy technicians to inject the vaccine, which HHS authorized in a recent declaration. HHS said it would refer the issue to the Justice Department if state officials didn t offer assurances by Jan. 4 that they won t prevent pharmacy technicians from administering the shots.
