High School (Wyndmoor, Pa.) running back Samuel Brown is a 6-2, 205-pounder, comparable to Don Bosco’s Jalen Bergen, who Rutgers recruited hard in 2021, but ultimately lost to Wisconsin.
A Mount Airy (Philadelphia) native, Brown is a four-star recruit with more than 20 scholarship offers. And, after examining his high school film, could have 10 more. But none of that matters now since he’s a Scarlet Knight.
Brown picked Rutgers on Wednesday cementing the recruitment of one of its top targets over the last three months. The entire staff worked on Brown with Greg Schiano, defensive backs coach Fran Brown, offensive coordinator Sean Gleeson and running backs coach Augie Hoffmann leading the way.

Rutgers football earned its latest pledge from Delran (N.J.) four-star defensive end Kenny Fletcher on Friday, keeping the class comfortably ranked inside the nation’s top 20 (13th nationally, and fourth in the Big Ten per 247Sports.com). The 6-4, 220-pounder is athletic, plays hard and could also help in the red zone at tight end. However, there are still needs Rutgers must fill and talent it must add to keep pace with the nation’s best.
