With the script for Brian Baugh’s “Finding You” (in theaters May 14) centering around violinist Finley (Rose Reid) traveling to the Irish coast for a semester, composer Kieran Kiely couldn’t help but say yes to the opportunity since music was part of the storyline.
In this coming-of-age story, Finley searches for herself, discovers her passion for music and finds unexpected romance with Jedidiah Goodacre’s Beckett Rush.

How did you divide the music work on the film?
Kieran Kiely: We had to do a lot of work in advance of the filming because the whole film is all about music; she’s a fiddler, there’s the music we hear in the pub, the music Seamus (Patrick Bergin) teaches her, and there’s the score.

NEW YORK (CNS) In adapting Jenny B. Jones’ 2011 young adult novel “There I’ll Find You” into a big-screen romantic comedy, writer-director Brian Baugh has shortened its title to “Finding You” (Roadside).

NEW YORK (CNS) In adapting Jenny B. Jones 2011 young adult novel There I ll Find You into a big-screen romantic comedy, writer-director Brian Baugh has shortened its title to Finding You (Roadside).
He also has somewhat downplayed the book s Christian themes. Yet a sense of God s providence and care does seep into this coming-of-age story about an aspiring musician.
To convey the experience of the young-adult romance âFinding You,â here are some characters: Thereâs protagonist Finley Sinclair, a tall, blond violinist; heartthrob actor Beckett Rush and unfeeling manager-father Montgomery Rush; Beckettâs shallow co-star Taylor Risdale; and there are regular Irish folks named Seamus (who is habitually drunk), Molly and Patrick.
Thatâs what youâre in for.
Based on Jenny B. Jonesâ novel, âThere Youâll Find Me,â âFinding Youâ finds Finley (Rose Reid) finally following the fraternal footsteps of her deceased brother to Ireland, land of saints and scholars. The college-aged lass is a technically accomplished player trying to get into a conservatory that makes prospective students compose their audition pieces; apparently she has to learn to play from the heart to get over the top before her next try. In the earnest Ireland-set young adult romance Finding You, the clichés are as big as the Cliffs of Moher.
Rose Reid stars as Finley Sinclair, a violin student from New York who goes on a semester abroad in Ireland. On the way there, she meets a movie star (Jedidiah Goodacre) and they flirt the whole plane ride, and it turns out they re staying at the same host house, a cozy B&B in the small Irish town of Carlingford. Imagine that!
