Experts from Finland began training personnel of the fire and emergency services department of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) for using the hydraulic elevated platform (HEP that can operate at a height of 81 meters. The fire department of VMC was equipped with two HEPs that could operate at a height of 35m and 44m. A new HEP was much needed as buildings in the city have now reached a height of 31 floors. VMC had ordered an 81m high HEP from Finland and it reached the city a couple of months ago. After a formal induction, the fire engine was kept at the Darjipura Emergency Response Centre (ERC). Sources said that all lubricants, fuel, and other similar materials of the fire tender were drained as per norms before shipping it. These were replenished and other paperwork related to the HEP was completed. The HEP was procured for Rs 25 crore with VMC and Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) making equal contributions.
