Over 200 temporary jobs up for grabs before July Awards
The Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) awards are expected to briefly boost the entertainment industry by creating roughly 200 temporary jobs in preparation for the event.
The openings will run for three months and include positions in staging, make-up, sound, production, dressing, and the overall coordination of the awards.
Addressing the media earlier this week, the project coordinator, Seabelo Modibe of Total Music group promised ‘to revive the integrity of the awards’.

“Unfortunately because of Covid-19 we can’t go all out and host a massive event. The plan, however, is to host the main event in Gaborone and mini sessions in other parts of the country, where they will be streaming Live.”

Speaking on Thursday at a press conference to launch the 10
th edition of BOMU awards, Director of Total Music group, Seabelo Modibe, who has been appointed the Brand Marketing Specialist explained how things were going to be done differently from the previous awards ceremony that have been hosted before, in a bid to elevate the brand and restore its integrity. “We are going to change the face of the awards, and this includes the way the awards will be marketed and awarded, ” he said.

The 10th Annual Botswana Musician Union (BOMU) Awards were officially launched last week at the Protea Hotel with union president, Phemelo ‘Fresh’ Lesokwane, firmly justifying the controversial appointment of Total Music Group, an infant company owned by Seabelo Modibe.
“He is a brand marketing specialist. There has been a lot of misinformation peddled and we will be irresponsible not to address this. We did not Modibe a tender. We appointed him through his company Total Music Group to consult and assist with the running of the awards,” The BOMU President explained.
For his part the man behind the awards, Modibe explained that only members of the union will be eligible to enter the awards. “If one is not a BOMU member they will have to pay P 500 to enter the awards.”
