ROCKPORT – Department of Marine Resources Commissioner Patrick Keliher opened a seminar on working waterfront at the Fisherman’s Forum March 2 to assure he is pushing for state money to help the fishing industry rebuild infrastructure on the coast.
More than 30 small marine enterprises work out of the Sea Meadow Marine center, which also offers education programs and has plans for an eco-friendly expansion.
On a 12-acre parcel on the Cousins River, Sea Meadow Marine envisions a business incubator and marine hub for fisheries and sustainable aquaculture alongside marina services, heritage boat builders and recreational boaters. Services such as water and sewer need upgrades to handle future tenants and operations.
