The Northeast Sea Grant Consortium in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Energy Technologies Office and Water Power Technologies Office, and NOAA’s Northeast Fisheries Science Center announced six projects to advance social science and technology research on offshore renewable energy in the Northeast United States.

The Northeast Sea Grant Consortium (NESGC) in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Wind Energy Technologies Office and Water Power Technologies Office, and NOAA's Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NOAA Fisheries) has invested over $1.1 million in federal funds to support six projects advancing social science and technology research on offshore renewable energy in the Northeast United States. One of the projects, a nearly $200,000 study supported by the NESGC, including New York Sea Grant (NYSG), as well as DOE and NOAA Fisheries, is led by Cornell University investigator Maha Haji, who is focusing on the development of a tool that would empower stakeholders to make more informed decisions that could substantially increase economic efficiencies in the long term, thereby increasing economic resiliency.
