That’s the word used by the President of the Maine Lobster Festival to describe the decision made Tuesday night to cancel this year’s festival.
After months of discussion and worry, Celia Knight said the Board of Directors made the hard decision to cancel for the second consecutive year because of the continuing COVID pandemic.
“I have had sleepless nights trying to figure how to make it safe for everyone. We looked at every option you could possibly think of and we could not figure a way we were comfortable doing it,” Knight said.

Taiwan turns to sea goddess for drought relief

Taipei, March 6 (CNA) Irrigation authorities in Taiwan plan to turn to Mazu, the Sea Goddess, for help in resolving the current drought in the country and will team up with one of the most famous Mazu temples, the Dajia Jenn Lann Temple in Taichung City, to hold a ceremony to pray to the deity for rain.
The Irrigation Agency under the Council of Agriculture and the temple are scheduled to hold a rain worshipping ceremony on Sunday, hoping worshippers piety will move the goddess, who is believed by her followers as having the ability to bring timely rainfall after a long drought.
