The government considers offshore wind energy to be key in the transition to a near complete climate-neutral energy supply by 2050. With the fulfilment of offshore wind energy capacity targets for 2023 in sight, legislative and policy steps are being taken towards achieving follow-up targets set for 2030 and beyond. Recently, an additional draft to the North Sea Programme 2022-2027 was published by the government. The North Sea Programme 2022-2027 is expected to be adopted in March 2022.
