Restaurants get a boost from their customers

Local organizations, businesses and entrepreneurs around the region are stepping up again to help struggling restaurants at the end of an already difficult year for the industry in Pennsylvania. “I love this area so much and I just hate to see people struggling, and I know restaurants specifically have been impacted,” said photographer Autumn Granza, who planned a fundraiser on Saturday to help restaurants. On Dec. 12, Gov. Tom Wolf restricted indoor dining in restaurants across the state until Jan. 4 to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Restaurants in Lackawanna County have not been allowed to reopen at full capacity since March 19, when a statewide shutdown of nonessential businesses began. Outdoor dining has been and is still allowed at eateries, many of which were operating at 50% capacity for indoor dining until last week.
