BIRMINGHAM – Autaugaville High School closed out the first boys’ basketball perfect season Friday night with a 38-34 victory over stubborn Belgreen in the Class 1A championship game of the 99th AHSAA State Basketball tournament.
The victory wasn’t decided until junior guard Antonio Hardy sank two free throws with five seconds left to give the Eagles (30-0) a four -point lead. Belgreen (26-3) missed two 3-point goals a few seconds earlier – both good looks by Bulldogs senior guard Scout Bragwell. He nailed a trey at the buzzer ended the half from the top of the key following an inbounds pass that came with just 1.3 seconds left in the second quarter. The bucket sent Belgreen to the locker room at intermission leading 22-18.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WAFF) - Day two of State basketball belongs to our Class 1A schools. There were two early afternoon games on tap at Bill Harris arena, starting with the Bulldogs of Belgreen.
The Belgreen High School boysâ basketball team didnât have any trouble shooting in the new environment Tuesday.
The Bulldogs opened the game by hitting six of their first seven shots, including a trio of 3-pointers, to build a double-digit lead midway through the first quarter the AHSAA Class 1A State Basketball Championships semifinals at Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham Crossplex and rolled to a 66-44 win over Notasulga.
Belgreen advances to final four for first time since 1994
The Bulldogs win over Pickens County was largely thanks to an excellent day of shooting.

The third day of regional championship action at Wallace State saw Belgreen advance to the state semi-finals for the first time since 1994.
The Bulldogs defeated the Pickens County Tornadoes 73-58 Thursday, clinching the team’s first final four appearance in more than 25 years.
The team finished with a 61.2 field goal percentage and shot 50% from behind the arc. Scout Bragwell hit six of the team’s seven 3-pointers he finished with 24 points.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The Bulldogs of Belgreen shot the ball really well. 60 percent will almost beat anyone in High School basketball. the Bulldogs ran by Pickens County in the Class 1A Northwest Regional Final at Tom Drake Coliseum on the campus of Wallace State-Hanceville 73-58 to advance to the Class 1A State Semifinals next week in Birmingham.
Three players scored in double figures led by Scout Bragwell’s 20 points. Brothers Will and Connor Bonner scored 20 and 15 respectfully as the Bulldogs will face Notasulga Wednesday March 2nd.
