The mother of a 5-year-old missing in floodwaters from California’s winter storms says she thought it was safe to drive across a creek flowing over the road.
Lindsy Doan didn’t think the water flowing over the creek crossing on San Marcos Road was deeper than normal when she tried navigating it in her SUV while driving her 5-year-old son to school.
Many people throughout the Central Coast this week returned to homes that were damaged or destroyed by the winter storm. One area hit hard is Los Osos, where about 20 homes were damaged with two of them completely destroyed by mud and water.
