Bill Edwin Davis, 74, of League City, Texas passed away on August 6, 2021 in his home surrounded by his immediate family. Bill was born July 18, 1947 to Alva C. and Marjorie Wilson Davis. His stately, lean, 6'5" body and a face framed with glasses and a full beard coalesced into a valid image of strength and gravitas. He was by any standard an imposing, much loved gentleman, lawyer, husband and friend. Bill spent his early childhood in Fairfield, Illinois and attended Fairfield Community High School. During this time, Bill developed his natural athleticism and his love of cars, music, hunting, fishing, golfing, and basketball. Bill earned a bachelor's degree at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky, enjoying the small college experience and the brotherhood of Sigma Chi social fraternity, and the time spent at the family cabins on Kentucky Lake/Lake Barkley. Robert L. Bernd, 97, of Williamsburg, VA died on May 9, 2021. He was born in New Richmond, WI on July 9, 1923. He served in the Navy in WWII from 1942 through 1946, eventually as a line officer on the navy aircraft carrier Point Cruz in the Pacific.
He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (Madison) in 1947 with a B.S. Degree and received management training from the General Electric Company, Medical Division where he began his working career.
His work experiences were varied and included building and managing a manufacturing plant in Charlottesville, VA. He later served as Corporate director of industrial Relations and Services at Premark International Food Equipment Group. During his career he served on the adjunct faculty at the University of Virginia and later the adjunct faculty Edison State College of Ohio.
Jerry Morris, 85, of Comanche, passed from this life Saturday, December 26, 2020. Heartland Funeral & Cremations has been entrusted with his funeral arrangements.
A Celebration of his life will be held at graveside 3 p.m. Monday December 28, 2020, in Sardis Cemetery of Comanche County with Gerald Burns officiating.

Some months ago, when the Covid-19 virus was at a lull , I went to Shreveport, Louisiana. I used to work for a company that had van drivers from Gilmer and Longview driving fresh railroad-crews to distant trains as far away as to Shreveport and Martin Lake coal-fired electric plant and return the departing crews back to Longview.
On my job-route, I d often pass-by the Sunset Masonic Lodge #438. I d see a bunch of cars and wanted to stop, but I was on-duty and couldn t then. It took me eight years. I recently fulfilled that promise.
