similarself, i don t think he hurt himself. if you like donald trump, you still like him. he doesn t get into the weeds, doesn t really talk policy. frankly, i thought the real substance ever the debate wasn t even really over economics. it was things about immigration, which of course is tied to economics, and foreign policy, the clash between rand paul and marco rubio i thought was maybe the highlight of the evening. so donald trump was not really front and center in terms of the news making part of the debate. scottie, do you agree? well, to a certain extent. but let me ask you this question. how effective on economic policy can you be when you have eight people on a stage sitting there combating each other for one to two minute sound bite thatz media will play the next day? there was more economic policy talked about in the earlier debate. that s where i think reince priebus and the rnc needs to look at the smaller group format and say, if you want substance in a specific area,

massive anti-trump action. he s making them nervous. something that could make them even more nervous? the idea of a trump/carson ticket. cnn asked the front-runner about that possibility earlier. i like him. he likes me. stranger things have happened. it s too early to think about that. it certainly is interesting. so many people have suggested it because we seem to be doing awfully well. noah rothman writes, stranger things have happened. not so sure about that. joining us now, scottie hughes, director of the tea party news network, amanda carpenter, served as ted cruz s communication director. these polls, the cnn poll, a wall street journal poll, trump is out in front by a lot in some of these polls. not to mention, iowa, new hampshire, south carolina, florida, everywhere you go. at what point do people take a step back and say, he is running away with this, at least right now. and it s shocking, but only
issues. thoughts? and he s also great on political correctness. when he took on and he talks about how we have to get away from it. that our problems are too serious to be holding back. that s what trump does best. marco rubio does best on substance. marco rubio knows the details of foreign policy and national security. he knows the details of domestic and economic policy. and so when rubio was speaking about economics, he is going to be incredibly strong. and trump frankly can t hold a candle to him. but when trump goes after the establishment, that s where i would say to rubio, don t take him on. both of these candidates go to war against each other, it s not smart for either of them at this point. scottie? you have to remember, this is something talking about the language, trump is coming from a business background. rubio is in politics. there s no more of a sensitive spanx-wearing pc-correct crowd in politics. the exact opposite is business. business doesn t care about the do
