No special meetings needed to pass CARES Act measure Wednesday, January 20, 2021 2:02 PM City emblem DELPHOS On Monday, due to a vacant council seat and another
councilman out of commission due to a health concern, Delphos City
Council was prepared to call several special meetings in the coming
weeks to get in three readings of a resolution detailing where the city
spent it CARES Act funds so it can be filed with the state by the Feb. 1
deadline. However, the state has moved the deadline to Jan. 5, 2022.
The resolution will be dropped.
The city spent a portion of the
funds on COVID leave and quarantine pay; upgrading council chambers,

the non-union payroll ordinance considering raises for salary and hourly
administrative positions as well as volunteer firefighters and rescue
personnel.
The measure had been tabled at the Dec. 7 meeting along
with the 2021 Temporary Budget ordinance for further discussion and
review. Councilman Josh Bayliff said he would like to see more
information on how the pandemic affected the city’s income tax
collections and other accounts before deciding on the raises. Councilman
Jim Fortener agreed.
