Across B.C., children have been struck particularly hard by cold and flu season this year. On Vancouver Island, schools are seeing a significant number of students staying home because of illness.
At the end of June, a community group from Langford partnered with the Canadian non-profit GlobalMedic. The group travelled to the city of Lutsk in western Ukraine to find a way to help. Now, the group is continuing the partnership as Ukraine s army works to liberate the country s southern regions.
Many families are opting for alternative ways to get the kids to class to avoid the headaches of the school run. But some parents say infrastructure still has to be improved around schools for those who walk or bike to class something local governments say they're working on.
