Mother s Day dining booms again
Area restaurants are gearing up to return to some kind of normalcy this Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day is typically the busiest day of the year for dine-in restaurants. COVID-19 changed that in 2020 as eateries across the country closed their doors – temporarily or permanently.
With infection rates dropping and immunization rates rising, many restaurants are laying out the silverware again.
“Most of the sit-downs across the state are open and we’re excited,” said Scott Plowman, president of the North Texas Restaurant Association. “We’re all experiencing pretty good volume across the state.”
Plowman’s Pelican’s, an upscale steak and seafood restaurant, is normally closed on Sundays, but Plowman will have it open on Mother’s Day and expects a big crowd. He also expects a booming business at his two Parkway Grill locations, which offer a more casual, sports grill motif.
