Wisconsin veterans whose trips to Washington, D.C., on Honor Flights were postponed last year due to the pandemic got a show of support Sunday in Milwaukee.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, which flies veterans to Washington to visit the memorials for the wars in which they served, organized a parade across Milwaukee for 101 veterans as they wait for their trips to be rescheduled.
Driven by a family member or volunteer, each veteran rode in a caravan from American Family Field to the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center. Supporters gathered along the route to cheer, despite the on-and-off rain, and veterans waved from their windows.
