Alex Gonzales, 27, was shot and killed in the incident in the 2500 block of Wickersham Lane. Police said Gonzales cut off an off-duty police officer driving his personal vehicle. Police said the officer, identified as Gabriel Gutierrez, saw Gonzales pull out a gun and shots were fired. Gutierrez then called 911 to report the incident.

I think when you see the video, it s going to be heartbreaking and tragic, the attorney for Gonzales parents, Scott Hendler, told KXAN on Tuesday. What happened is unconscionable, in my opinion. There s no credible defense for it. Austin Police Department (APD) released the footage to the public on Wednesday of what body and dashboard cameras recorded in the officer-involved shooting. The footage comes 113 days since the incident, which APD said is because severe winter storms in mid-February delayed the video release.

(Legal Newsline) – Banana plantation workers who tried to sue in Delaware – despite working in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Panama – have again been told they cannot do so. The Delaware Supreme Court on Jan. 12 rejected their appeal to a 2013 dismissal of their complaint, finding a motion to vacate that dismissal filed five years after it was too late. “Not surprisingly, the Superior Court cited the two reasons for the delay offered by the plaintiffs – the burden of the many other DBCP cases counsel was handling and the time and research required to prepare the motion – and found them to be unpersuasive,” says the opinion, authored by Justice James Vaughn.
