Only 50 senators voted for the spending measure passed by the house falling short of the 60 required to proceed. A senate vote to fund the government through february 16 failed. The motion is not agreed to. Reporter private discussions continued on the floor even after the midnight deadline came and went. But to no avail. The Government Shutdown was 100 avoidable. All because Senate Democrats chose to filibuster a non controversial funding bill that contains nothing. Not a thing they do not support. Well tonight those huge crowds are starting to head home. If you were in and around San Francisco or oakland today or san jose where any of these marches were taking place no doubt you ran into some extra traffic. Here just about an hour ago Market Street reopened. It wasnt supposed to reopen till about 7 00 tonight but it is once again reopened. There were significant delays as the march was going on.
