Activists attach themselves to plant pots outside the Faslane base CLIMATE activists have blockaded the Faslane nuclear base by attaching themselves to giant plant pots. Members of Extinction Rebellion Scotland, alongside peace activists from Trident Ploughshares, are staging the blockade at the north gate of the base on the Gare Loch in Argyll and Bute. The group placed three planters, which contain plants and flowers and are painted with the words “Safe”, “Green”, and “Future”, on the road on Friday morning. A post on the Extinction Rebellion Scotland Facebook page said the group are demanding that governments avoid war as a method of resolving conflict eliminate nuclear weapons and dramatically reduce military spending .

Arthur Holk, 95 years old, of Magnolia Springs and longtime resident of Foley, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 13 of a major stroke. Arthur was born to the late Margaret (Wooten) and late George Holk on October 13, 1925 in their original family home located above the “Holk Grocery Store” on the corner of Highway 59 and 98 in Foley. His parents had five boys - George ( Buster ), Herbert, Arthur, Harvey, and Floyd. In addition to being a local business owner, his father was the fifth Mayor for the City of Foley when Arthur was born. His parents eventually built their homeplace on the corner of Camphor and Highway 59 only to be met by tragedy five years later when their beloved mother, Margaret, died of cancer leaving a single dad
