Tributes have been pouring in after a couple who were married for more than 60 years have died within days of each other. Jim and Thelma Cleminson married 66 years ago when Thelma was just 19, and lived in Cumbria for most of their lives. Jim passed away on Friday, March 26 before Thelma died the following Monday. Their granddaughter, Mollie Cleminson, said that while it was a tough time for the family, she was glad they were still together. Readers of the News & Star took to Facebook to pay tribute to Jim and Thelma. Mollie herself wrote: “My lovely Nana & Granda. Left a massive hole in my life, miss you and love you forever.”

Initially they called Aglionby Farm near Carlisle home, before moving to Wreay, then the Isle of Man, before returning to Aglionby. The couple then spent the last 20 years of their lives living in Scotby. Jim sadly passed away on Friday, before Thelma died on Monday. The couple had been put on end of life care and spent time in Eden Valley Hospice; but Jim decided he would like to die at home.
